1st Annual NYC 'Masters' Striped Bass Tournament

$100 Entry Fee per Boat (includes max of 5 anglers, including Captain)

REGISTER BY MAY 25th to RECEIVE SHIRTS WITH REGISTRATION

All Money Left after expenses will go to a charity that this group decides!!

Captain's Meeting will be held on Friday June 19th at 6 p.m. at the Club.

Tournament Rules:

1.     ELIGIBILITY

• Tournament is open to all members of the NYC (Owners and renters).
• One entry per NYC vessel. 
• Vessel must be docked at the NYC for the 2026 season.
• Five anglers maximum allowed per vessel.
• All entries must be properly registered prior to the start time. 
• A valid Massachusetts saltwater fishing license is required.

2.     TOURNAMENT HOURS

• Start Time: 05:15AM.
• End: Must pass the Committee Boat at the NYC by 3:30 PM.
• All fish must be caught during tournament hours.
• No fish recorded after 3:30PM will be counted.

3.     FISHING RULES

• All federal and Massachusetts state regulations must be followed.
• Only striped bass are eligible.
• Fish must meet the current legal-size limit (per MA regulations on 6/20).
• Rod and reel only (no nets, traps, or other methods unless legally permitted for landing).
• Each Boat will get to "measure and record" 5 fish.
• Once a fish is recorded, it CANNOT be replaced subsequently with a larger fish caught later in the day. 
• All landed fish must be measured with tournament sanctioned tape measure with appropriate playing card identifier. 
• All fish must be documented on the FishDonkey App available for download. (A photo and video of release are mandatory in the app.
• ALL BOATS MUST be in front of the NYC by 3:30 PM or 2 pts are deducted per each late minute. 

4.     BOATS & SAFETY

• All vessels must comply with U.S. Coast Guard safety requirements.
• Boating safety is the responsibility of the captain.
• Alcohol use must comply with state boating laws.

5.     SCORING

• Tournament will be determined by: Total Points
• 1 INCH of the fish = 1 POINT, to the nearest FULL INCH (Example: 28-3/4” = 28 pts.)
• In case of a tie, the earliest total pts recorded wins.

6.     SPORTSMANSHIP

• All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner.
• Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in disqualification. (Don't be that guy!)

7.     PROTESTS

• All decisions by tournament officials (Clevenger & Edic) are final. 

8.     LIABILITY

• Participants enter at their own risk.
• The Newburyport Yacht Club and tournament organizers are not responsible for injury, loss, or damage.
